Despite being a part of both the Ukrainian SSR and independent Ukraine, Crimea also had a distinctly Russian culture and vibe.


Along with being beloved by Russians, Crimea was also well-known throughout the Soviet Union. My Moldovan grandparents spent their final years in Yalta, taking advantage of the warm weather and crystal-clear waters. Crimea is a stunning region and a little piece of bliss.
