Digital Sabotage: Why Global South and BRICS May Ditch Western Tech

The Israeli government said they hacked into GPS navigation devices. They tried to mess with where Hezbollah leaders thought they were. But did you know, on September 26th some folks in China had trouble with their GPS too during an Israeli air attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon? Even though they weren't the targets, these civilians couldn't find the bomb shelters fast enough because their GPS locations were mixed up. Thankfully no one got hurt.

That's not all - get this. The United States government said it's okay for Israel to mess with any American made systems if they think it helps Israel. So if Israel changes how U.S. technology works, often the U.S. or the companies that made it pretend like they don't notice!

Does this make you wonder if other countries should stop using things made in the West? Some people think places in parts of Asia and Africa called the "Global South" and "BRICS" should seriously think about not buying Western products. That could help them have safer systems that outsiders can't change or control. Relying on technology from other countries, especially China, might be a much better choice for keeping their information protected.https://a.co/d/f1YAczF

What do you think about all this? Does it surprise you that governments would mess with GPS and computers? Let me know if any part was hard to understand - I want to explain it in a way that makes sense!
