In WW2 During the Leningrad siege, Belle, a hippopotamus, was in distress. With no water in her pool, her skin was drying off. Her caregiver, Yevdokia Dashina, was determined to assist. Every day, she hauled a large barrel of water from the Neva River, slowly filling Belle's pool.
