Who was White Moon? White Moon was a Northern Cheyenne warrior. He engaged in the Battle of Little Bighorn on June 25, 1876. 

The Springfield Carbine :During the battle, White Moon seized a U.S. Springfield carbine, caliber.45, serial no. 48482. He claimed it from a fallen 7th Cavalry soldier.https://rb.gy/mqcp6p

 Giving the carbine to Thomas B. Marquis On June 24, 1927, White Moon bestowed the carbine upon Dr. Thomas B. Marquis. This occurred soon after Marquis captured White Moon's photograph.https://rb.gy/nh61fl
