 The temperature of lava is determined by the composition of the magma, which is a mixture of molten rock, gases, and other materials. Magma is usually formed by the melting of rocks in the Earth's mantle or crust, and it can contain different amounts of silica, water, gases, and other minerals.

 The hotter and less viscous the magma is, the easier it is for it to flow and the more explosive the eruption can be. Lava can also cool rapidly as it comes into contact with the air or water, forming a solid rock known as igneous rock.
