Another compelling incentive to visit Chile. According to science, Chile currently has the distinction of having the world's oldest tree. It is known as the Alerce Milenario or Gran Abuelo tree and is thought to be 5484 years old. The tree may be found in the Alerce Costero National Park, which was established in 2012. If validated by the scientific community, it will outlive Methuselah, a 4853-year-old bristlecone pine in eastern California.
