Crater Lake

A Journey of Wonder, Awe, and Adventure"

I still remember the first time I laid eyes on Crater Lake. I had pulled over at Sun Notch viewing area, exhausted from the drive down from Portland. But as I walked to the edge and peered into the depths of that sapphire blue water, all my tiredness vanished. I was transported - I had never seen anything so vibrant and pure.

My friends, I have to tell you - nothing can really prepare you for standing high on the rim and taking it all in. The sheer scale of the caldera blew me away. I remained there for who knows how long, simply amazed by Mother Nature's might. That's when I realized I needed to see more of what this unique place has to offer. Next on my plan was a hike to Wizard Island. The boat journey over was magnificent, as you glided across the clear lake surface. But trekking the routes up that ancient volcano... what an experience! I felt as if I was on top of the world, with panoramic vistas in every direction as far as my eyes could see.I've never felt so small, yet so alive, if that makes sense.

All around the rim, I discovered perfect spots to soak it all in - Sun Notch, Steel Bay, Cloud Cap Overlook. No matter the season, this place just takes your breath away. I love returning in fall when the forests burst into a fiery rainbow. And snowshoeing the frozen landscape in winter? Pure magic.

Getting down to the water's edge on Cleetwood Cove Trail was a real treat too. Dipping my hands in that piercingly cold water gave me chills, both good and bad! The Rim Trail wasn't for the faint of heart with its steep sections, but I'm glad I pushed myself. Nothing compares to the sweat and burn of a great hike with views that lift your soul. https://amzn.to/4ewJXmP

All in all, I have to say Crater Lake is just pure wanderlust. From her forests to meadows to that unfathomably blue jewel, she leaves you feeling small yet mighty - with a deep sense of gratitude for this beautiful blue planet we call home. So pack your adventurous spirit, friends, and come see what I'm talking about!
