Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him).
When Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) freed the children of Israel from Pharaoh's slavery, he stayed in the Sinai desert on the way. Here he entrusted the affairs of the nation to Hazrat Haroon (peace be upon him) and he personally visited the mountain according to the order of the Lord. You spent forty days and forty nights as a mountaineer. This is where the Torah was revealed to you. It is stated in the Holy Quran:
And We promised Musa thirty-two nights, and He fulfilled them with ten, so the time of His Lordship was forty-two nights.
"And We made a promise to Musa (a.s.) of thirty nights, and extended it by ten nights, then the period of your Lordship was completed forty nights." (Surat al-A'raf, verse 142)
Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) stayed in the mountains for forty days and forty nights continuously, but the interesting thing is that Allah has used the word "night" and has not mentioned the day. According to spiritual sciences, "Night" is the name of the senses which are the source of unseen revelations. In meditation, the human mind is dominated by the senses of the night and man is freed from time and space and observes the unseen world. For forty days and forty nights, Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) was dominated by the senses of the night and thus his mind became capable of seeing and understanding the unseen manifestations and divine teachings.
