The curly hair of an Egyptian Pharaoh queen who died at the age of 60 about 3500 years ago is still intact.
Queen Tiye (or Tiy), mother of Akhenaten and grandmother of Tutankhamun, was Amenhotep III's wife. A lock of her hair was discovered inside a little coffin inside Tut's tomb, in addition to the massive amount of hair her mummy still has.
In the year 1338 BCE, she died. She had at least seven children before then and served as Queen Consort (Great Royal wife) for about 40 years.
